Intellium supported the ITU Cyber drill for Arab Region


Francesco Tozzi and Valeria Risuglia led several sessions during the fourth edition of the regional Cyberdrill ALERT (Applied Learning for Emergency Response Teams) for the Arab region that took place in Yasmine Hammamet, Tunisia (May 23-27, 2016).

The event was organized by International Telecommunication Union (ITU) and ITU Arab Regional Cybersecurity Center (ITU-ARCC) at the kind invitation of the National Agency for Computer Security (NACS), Tunisia.

It brought together delegates, from many countries of the Arab region, mainly belonging to National CERTs (Computer Emergency Response Teams),

Intellium, as Supporting Partner of the event, conducted the workshop and cyber drill exercise session on how to improve Information sharing and coordination among CERT Stakeholders.


CERTs are focal point to coordinate cyber events not only at national level, but also at regional and international ones to leverage best practices and information. Taking into account the increasing role of CERTs in national cyber security strategy specifically to achieve goals related to the protection of national critical infrastructure, in the opening session, Valeria Risuglia talked about the importance of communication and information sharing for National CERTs and the role of stakeholders in each phase of the incident response process.

During the training sessions, Francesco Tozzi conducted several sessions to guide participants through several scenarios related to cyber emergencies and crisis. To this end, cyber scenarios were designed to simulate the usage of communication tools.
Throughout those exercises participants explored attitude in understanding how to use communication and sharing tools. Specifically, the focus was on improving CERT capability to coordinate and communicate with stakeholders at national, regional and international level in the occurrence of cyber emergencies.
